Welcome to the blog

First off, welcome to the blog! I’ve been telling myself I’d start a blog since college, and it only took me *mumbles two digit number* years to do it. (Recovering perfectionist here, hi.)

Blogging to fuel the learning loop

This blog is inspired by many, many wonderful blogs from a swath of talented developers. As a self-taught dev, I cannot overstate the value and insight I’ve derived from reading others’ blogs. Like many of those folks, I see blogging as mutually beneficial in the learning loop - blogging solidifies your own understanding while creating a resource to potentially reach others.

At its core this blog is driven by equal parts: 1) an attempt to consolidate my learning, 2) a desire to participate in the propagation of free learning resources, and 3) a squirrel-brained compulsion to archive.

The focus of this blog

In its early stages, the main focus of this blog will be web design. I’ll mostly use blog posts to document and share what I’ve learned, especially:

  • things I know I’ll reuse from one project to the next,
  • things that were frustrating to figure out or difficult to find answers to, and
  • things that get me excited about building for the web

Eventually I plan to expand the blog to various and sundry niche interests that have little or nothing to do with web design. But for now, we’ll stick with webby stuff. To kick things off, allow me to introduce my new site via its origin story.

I’m excited to get this blog rolling and hope you find something useful or interesting among its rambles. If you’ve got questions or thoughts you’d like to connect on, I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for stopping by!
